Robert Peter Maximilian Williams , conocido en el mundo entero como Robbie Williams, nació el 13 de febrero de 1974 en el Hospital Royal Infirmary en Newcastle Under Lyme, al noroeste de Gran Bretaña.
En la adolescencia de su vida, su madre le trajo un recorte del diario en el que se buscaban jóvenes para una prueba para formar una banda de música. Así pasó a pertenecer a Thake That la versión europea de The News Kids on the Block. En julio de 1995 Robbie , después de una pelea con el cantante, Gary Barlow, decidió abrirse camino como solista.
En julio de 1996, Robbie confirmó su debut con una declaración realizada con mucho tacto: “Freedom 96″, una versión del éxito de George Michael pero hecha por alguien a quien le gusta Primal Scream y Black Grape.
